Darth Vader, Chewbacca and a trumpet-wielding Yoda have invaded Horsham town centre - but not to promote the new Star Wars movie.

Students from Steyning Grammar School have dressed up as the iconic characters to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The fundraising drive is part of the sixth form’s annual ‘jailbreak’ where students in fancy dress ‘escape’ from the school.

They travel to various locations across the county in an attempt to raise funds.

Ella Chambers, 17, said: “We’ve had a good start and we want to raise as much as we can.

“Star Wars is quite up and coming at the moment so we thought young kids would like it.”

The group will be in West Street until about 1pm today (Friday December 4).

They will then leave for the Bandstand in the Carfax for a performance.

The Force Awakens - the eagerly anticipated next instalment in the Star Wars series - is released later this month.
