Spread the warmth with Age UK

Age UK Horsham District is calling on the people of Horsham district to get involved with Bobble Day next month.

On Thursday February 7 the Horsham branch aims is to raise much needed funds for services to tackle loneliness and isolation and concern about the cold winter months faced by many older people across the district.

With up to one in five people over 60 turning off their heating due to expense, they are asking people of all ages to get involved by making and wearing a woolly bobble, dress up in woolly clothes or organise a coffee morning to show support and help improve the quality of life for an older person.

CEO at Age UK Horsham District Janice Leeming said: “With many older people across the district feeling isolated and worrying about finding the money to keep warm Bobble Day is a great way for all local people to get involved in raising awareness of these issues and help us to raise much needed funds.

“There is a range of fun ways for people to get involved from wearing woolly clothes to work, to knitting bobbles to arranging collections, the choice is yours.”

Horsham based company FrieslandCampina, makers of Yazoo, will be sending their employees out into Horsham town centre to sell Bobbles on Thursday February 7 so look out for them to purchase your Bobble. They are also available from the charity’s district office at Lavinia House, in Denne Road, Horsham. Age UK Horsham District is also appealing to all schools to be a part of Bobble Day 2013 to identify the needs of those in later life to the younger generations.
