Southwater skate park has at last been saved after nearly four months out of use due to severe damage from wear and tear.

Southwater Parish Council revealed last Friday (August 17) that it has found a contractor willing to carry out emergency repairs to the skate park, meaning the facility should be re-opened ‘within the next few weeks’.

A spokesperson said: “It is hoped that the contractor should be on site in the next couple of weeks, with the emergency repairs taking a further two weeks.

“A programme of refurbishment has been drawn up which will enable the parish council to spread the cost of bringing the skate park up to peak condition over a period of years.”

A Facebook page called ‘Southwater Skate Park’ has been set up to encourage young people who live in the village and use the skate park, to exchange any fundraising ideas for the refurbishment programme.
