A ‘PROUD’ Southwater dad has said he is ‘excited’ about his son representing England in a World Dance Sport Federation championship in Russia.
Andrew Duffin’s 12-year-old son Matt is competing in the World Junior II Standard under 16 Ballroom Championship with his dance partner Jade McCabe, 11.
Andrew said: “Matt and Jade are really thrilled and excited to be one of the two couples selected to represent England.”
He added that there were no worries about the competition and that they have been preparing by having extra ballroom lessons and lots of extra practice.

Tanbridge House school student Matt has been dancing since the age of ten and was matched up with his current partner Jade in June last year.
After only four lessons they were placed second in the British Closed under 14 Latin Championship and fifith in the under 14 Ballroom Championship
In November they came ninth at the British National Junior Ballroom Championships.
Andrew said that seeing Matt dance sometimes moves him to tears. He added: “Matt has something special and watching him dance fills me with admiration for his dedication and commitment.”
Matt and Jade practice at the Baptist Church, Brighton Road, Horsham, with a schedule which sees late nights home and two days off a week.
Andrew spoke about how Matt and Jade are currently looking for sponsors.
“Dancesport England is unable to provide any funding for this event,” he said. “If businesses or individuals are interested in hearing a little more about their endeavors, they can contact me on 01403 732753, 07886873218 or email@example.com.”
The competition takes place in Moscow on March 24.
