AS SHOPPERS don skates to have a go on the artificial ice rink in Cranleigh on Saturday, staff at Going Places will be getting in the spirit of cold adventures.

The Stocklund Square travel experts will be getting into the seasonal spirit of the ‘Cranleigh Christmas Cracker’ by holding a charity cake sale and ski event.

Travel experts will be continuing the winter sports theme by donning ski apparel and giving out information on the latest snow break deals.

In store, staff will also be doing their bit for good causes by selling hot drinks and Christmas themed home make cakes.

All money raised will go to the Thomas Cook Children’s Charity, which supports sick and disadvantaged children, including local causes in the Surrey area.

Marsha Inwood, branch manager, said: “The ice rink was a real hit last year, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to promote our range of ski holidays.

“We’ll have been busy baking cakes too, so we hope everyone visiting the village will pop in and help raise money for the Thomas Cook Children’s Charity.”

Since its launch in 2009, the Thomas Cook Children’s Charity has enriched the lives of over 7,500 children.

Due to the tireless fundraising activities of both dedicated staff and generous customers, the charity hopes to support up to a further 1,000 children between now and the end of 2012.
