Two sisters from Southwater are counting down the days to a sky dive they are doing for a charity which ‘saved’ their friend.

Rachael, 16, and Emma Knowles, 19, chose to do the jump on August 18 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, after meeting a boy who they say was saved by the children’s charity.

Emma explained: “Our friend Mathew Turnbull was saved when he had a stroke.”

Rachael, who is a student currently in transition from Tanbridge school to Collyers college, added: “Plus it’s just an amazing cause. It will be going towards the new heart and lung centre.

“When we first booked it, it felt ages off but now I’m getting more and more nervous.”

Emma, a trainee veterinary nurse, said they have raised £900 already but would like to make £1,000.

She said: “We have been fighting over who will jump first because we both don’t want to watch the other do it first.”
