Steyning Town sailed into the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup with a five-star show against Selsey on Tuesday evening.
A Lewis Levoi double put Town 2-0 up at half-time against their fellow Division 1 side, before a Rob Clark brace and Joe Assefi goal completed the scoring in the second half.
The comfortable victory saw Steyning through to face division-higher Hassocks in the next round, much to the delight of manager Alan Skipper.
He said: “Selsey to be fair were a better side than the score line suggested and they had some very talented young lads in their ranks. That said our lads were superb on the night.
“We were sharp and clinical and we were certainly on our game for the full 90 minutes. I am pleased throughout the squad though at the moment we are suffering a fair few injuries and it just shows the strength in depth of the squad we have.
“Our goalkeeper and defence are starting to blend and look tighter, the midfield have a good work ethic and with the lads we have in forward positions are always going to be a threat and score goals.
“What we must do is hold some consistency going forward particularly in the league and start to move up to the position the lads deserve and the position the club is aiming for.”
Levoi gave Steyning the lead after just five minutes, before he made it 2-0 ten minutes before half-time with his seventh goal of the season.
Clark got the third just past the hour and then netted his second eight minutes from time, before Assefi then completed the scoring two minutes later.
Skipper added: “The last three performances have been superb though we now head into two very tough games away to Mile Oak (Saturday) and at Home to Horsham in the FA Vase (October 31).
“Both sides will need to be given total respect as they are both decent outfits.
“I am really pleased with the our lads, their commitment and attitudes have been superb. We are starting to see the players hard work come to fruit.”
