A Horsham department store is carrying stickers prohibiting Under-18s from buying stainless steel spoons, knives and forks.
Beales, in Lower Tanbridge Way, was carrying the orange stickers on all the different types of cutlery last week, citing the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 on a sign at the top of the display.
Beales has been approached for comment.
Early in 2012 a 28-year-old Horsham woman was asked to show proof of age when attempting to buy spoons in Sainsbury’s in West Green, Crawley.
Sainsbury’s apologised for the mistake, saying the computer had incorrectly recognised the packet as a knife.
Do you think more or less products should carry age-related restrictions?
