Shelley fountain - readers call for it to be removed
HORSHAM'S controversial Shelley Fountain has come in for heavy criticism from readers.
Readers were asked which of three options put forward they would prefer the council took up; fully reparing it, leaving out the hydraulics but keeping the water feature, remove it altogether.
Read this Friday's County Times to see all your comments and the latest on the fountain's future.
So far, half of those who have cast a vote have opted for the option to remove it altogether.
Thirty per cent have plumped for the remove hydraulics option, while the remaining 20 per cent want it to be fully repaired.
The voting follows the tone of coimments we have had, which include:
The Shelly Fountain is an eye sore, let's have a conventional Fountain it would be much more suitable and appealing for the Town and low maintenance too.
Shelly Fountain is a hideous carbunkle in Horsham Town and should be removed, and replaced with something more fitting with the town. What a waste of money.
It has always been a blot on the landscape of Horsham and most unsuited to this historic town and to the memory of Shelley.
Ugly and a waste of money.
