Rustington woman Hayley Telling came away with a second place prize from London’s biggest dog show.

Her two-year-old Shetland sheepdog Teal was competing in the medium ABC (anything but a collie) agility semi-finals at Eukanuba Discover Dogs.

The pair have now been placed in the grand final of that category at Crufts next March.

Hayley has been competing in agility for five years and had already qualified for Crufts 2017 with Teal when they won the medium British open semi-final at the Kennel Club International Agility Festival at Rockingham Castle in August.

Hayley said: “I’m very proud of Teal competing at Crufts so young.”

Handlers and dogs qualified to take part in the semi-finals by gaining points at heats held at agility shows across the country during 2016.

The grand finals of the two ABC competitions, medium and large novice, will take place at Crufts 2017, featuring the top ten dogs and handlers in each height from the Eukanuba Discover Dogs semi-finals.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club secretary, said: “Eukanuba Discover Dogs is a wonderful celebration of dogs and is London’s biggest dog event.

“Congratulations to Hayley and Teal for a tremendous performance in a closely-contested competition.”
