'Scrap the fountain' - readers comment
EARLY comments on the Shelley fountain have endorsed the idea of scrapping it all together.
Emails are coming in on the controversial plan to either repair it, get rid of the hydraulics or remove it altogether.
One reader has written: "Personally I have always considered the fountain more of an eyesore than a landmark."
Another writes: "Nw is the time to cease spending good money after bad."
However, one reader wants it to stay, but without the fountain element, saying: "It is a good meeting place and that end of West Street would be bare without it."
