Shipley School organised a Jubilee ‘street party’ in their playground.
The children decided in advance which sandwiches to have and made them during the morning.
Parents and governors provided cakes.
The theme for the day was Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses (hence the fancy dress) with head teacher Caitriona Bull donning a guards outfit to see children in and out of school in the morning and afternoon and a crown and robe for the afternoon’s party.
The event started with traditional games (hoopla, boules, croquet, egg and spoon races and pin the tail on the corgi) and was followed by tea.
A Jubilee oak tree was planted on the school field and the pupils were presented with Jubilee bibles given by St Mary’s Church and a jubilee mug given by Shipley Parish Council.
