Horsham Rugby Club is taking part in the RFU’s Return to Rugby campaign to encourage former players back into the sport.

The club is one of only 50 nationwide chosen by the sport’s governing body to host the initiative during the Rugby World Cup.

The club is hosting a rugby fun day this Saturday (26 September) with competitions, a touch rugby tournament, family entertainment, live music and beer festival and is encouraging everyone who is interested in playing the game to come along.

The fun day will end with the England versus Wales World Cup match beamed live on big screens.

The RFU campaign aims to get 5,000 players back into the game and is headed by World Cup winner, Lewis Moody.

As part of the initiative, Horsham will be running special events and sessions during and after the World Cup to encourage more players to take up the sport.

Horsham club captain Barry Wright said: “We are proud that Horsham has been selected as one of only 50 clubs nationwide to host the Return to Rugby campaign and will be running events throughout the Rugby World Cup to encourage players to take up the game.

“We have teams for all ages and abilities and will welcome anyone who wants to play. Rugby is a great sport, involving skill and fitness, with a strong social side and sense of camaraderie too.

“If you’ve played before and have been inspired by the World Cup to get your boots back on, we’d love to see you. We have great events throughout the World Cup and even have free beer vouchers for new members joining us!”

The clubs a women’s team, touch rugby team and junior teams to encourage as many as possible to get involved.
