Young growers Noah, Jacob and Mabel Ridley have won the Steyning pumpkin competition for the third year in a row.

The pumpkin plants were sold by Derek Crush from Daylands Farm at Steyning Farmers’ Market earlier in the year, in aid of St Barnabas House hospice.

The resulting squash were on display at the market on Saturday and Malcolm Atterbury went along with his tractor and hoist to weigh the entries.

Louise Crush, from Daylands Farm, said: “The winning entry weighed 350lb and was grown by Noah, Jacob and Mabel Ridley, their third win in a row.”

Mr Crush also presented prizes to winners of the allotment competition, which he judged as part of Steyning Food and Drink Festival.

Phillip Amess was in first place, winning a £30 gift voucher, with Sarah Mcrimmon second and Alison Brown third, each winning a £15 gift voucher. Prizes were donated by The Old Barn Nursery.
