Road improvements planned

A WIDE range of road improvements including crossovers along the A24 are being planned across the Horsham district.

An infrastructure plan has been developed by North Horsham County Local Committee and it will now be pressing the West Sussex Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport to include them in the county council’s West Sussex-wide integrated works programme.

The plan covers:

n Boars Head, Horsham - junction improvements.

n Forest School, Comptons Lane – a Safer Routes to School project with a range of options, including pedestrian crossing points on Comptons Lane, cycle parking facilities and a bus lay-by.

n Broadbridge Heath and Slinfold to Christ’s Hospital via the Downs Link and neighbouring access links – pedestrian and cycle route improvements.

n William Penn School, Coolham – a Safety Zone.

n Horsham Town East, Piries Place Car Park, Horsham Town North Bowling Alley Complex/Horsham Park area, Horsham Town West Sainsbury’s Area, Carfax Service Yard – cycle network, including the installation of safe, sheltered and secure cycle parking storage facilities.

n A24 – crossovers between Hop Oast to Ashington and better signage at Buck Barn.

n Langhurstwood Road, Horsham – a speed reduction. Langhurstwood Road.

n A264 west of Langhurstwood Road, Horsham – acoustic barrier.

Committee chairman Brad Watson said: “The aim of the plan is to identify local improvement priorities that go beyond typical routine maintenance works.”
