Horsham District Council is holding its latest information evening on the social housing consultation today (Tuesday July 24).
People wanting to have their say about who should be eligible for what used to be known as ‘council housing’, can find out more at Warnham Parish Council’s meeeting at 7.30pm tonight.
Social rented housing is in short supply in Horsham district. There are currently 1,150 households waiting on the housing register, 541 of whom are in homeless or housing need. The remaining 600 households have only a desire to move or live outside of Horsham district and have a legal right to be on the Housing Register even though this is only a paper exercise as they are unlikely ever to be housed through the Council.
Housing needs manager Karen Spencer and housing strategy manager Andrew Smith are giving a short presentation on housing options at the following scheduled parish and neighbourhood council meetings:
● Warnham Parish Council, Tuesday July 24 at 7.30pm, Parish Room, Warnham
● Pulborough Parish Council, Thursday August 2 at 7.30pm, Pulborough Sports Pavilion
● Billingshurst Parish Council, Wednesday September 5 at 7.30pm, Adversane Hall, Billingshurst
The consultation runs from June 14 to September 14. For more infromation about HDC social housing and to respond to the consultation go to the Horsham District Council website
