HORSHAM District Council continues to support the annual Gatwick Diamond Meet the Buyers event, which took place in Crawley earlier this month.
A group of large corporate buyers met with local businesses at the 2012 event on Thursday July 12 2012 at the Arora Hotel in Crawley.
It is hoped that this will repeat last year’s success which led to approximately £5million worth of business being won.
Around 120 local suppliers from 92 companies turned out to meet procurement managers from 35 companies across a range of disciplines including aviation, catering, construction, engineering and medical services.
Support from the Gatwick Diamond Initiative has enabled local firms to attend at a subsidised rate and take advantage of pre arranged sales appointments with their choice of buyers and a range of workshops, held across the region.
With significant levels of new business contracts on offer, the event highlights the opportunities for local companies of all sizes to become suppliers for companies including Balfour Beatty Group, Sussex Police, Carillion UK Construction, Gatwick Airport Limited as well as Nestlé UK.
Roger Paterson, Horsham District Council’s cabinet member for the local economy, said: “We are very pleased to support this important opportunity for local businesses to demonstrate the goods and services they produce to those in the public and private sector that are responsible for procurement.
“It is an excellent opportunity to help small and medium sized local enterprises to gain new business and in turn to strengthen our local economy.”
