HORSHAM District Council has recently picked up three prestigious awards for its continued hard work and performance in three different areas of its work.

The council started its winning streak when its ‘Horsham District News’ magazine won the silver award prize for best publication at the recent LGCommunications Reputation Awards 2012.

The council was also then recognised for its hard work and commitment in holding elections for members of the West Sussex Youth Cabinet and UK Youth Parliament.

HDC is the only local authority in West Sussex to be awarded the prestigious Innovative Delivery, Gold Democracy Award.

Sussex Building Control, the local authority building control service for Horsham District Council and Crawley Borough Council, scooped a top prize in the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) South East Building Excellence Awards.

Sussex Building Control and housing association Saxon Weald were awarded the first prize in the Best Partnership category at the ceremony in July as recognition of their close working relationship over the past three years.

Roger Arthur, HDC cabinet member for efficiency and resources, said: “I am delighted that Horsham District Council’s continued drive for improvement in service and value continues to bear fruit.

“This is due to the dedication of Horsham District Council’s officers and their continued drive for innovation. I would like to congratulate the teams involved.”
