THE DEMOLITION of a dilapidated detached garage block with living accommodation can go ahead, a government planning inspector has ruled.
An appeal was made by Dudley Broster against Horsham District Council’s refusal of the application.
The plans also included the demolished building being replaced with a new double garage and accommodation at Old Oaks, Spinney Lane in West Chiltington.
The main reason given for the initial refusal was the effect the proposed building could have on the ‘character and appearance of the area and on the setting of Old Oaks’.
However, planner inspector David Hogger ruled that it ‘would not have a detrimental effect on the character and appearance of the area or on the setting of the host dwelling’.
