Horsham-based Lib Dem blogger Stephen Tall has agreed to run down Whitehall ‘substantially naked’ for charity Médecins Sans Frontières.
During a BBC Daily Politics show in 2013, Stephen announced that he would run naked down Whitehall if the Lib Dems ended the next election with just 24 seats - as a poll had predicted.
“Technically, that didn’t happen,” he commented on his fundraising website.
“We did far, far worse. But a pledge is a pledge, as Lib Dems know only too well.
“Plus former Sun editor Kelvin McKenzie has offered me £5,000 for the charity of my choice to see it through.”
Stephen chose Médecins Sans Frontières. Also known in the UK as Doctors Without Borders, the charity provides humanitarian medical aid wherever it is needed, regardless of religion or politics.
He told the County Times: “I was looking for a charity that was active in Syria, given everything that’s been happening there, and also in lots of other places that don’t hit the headlines.”
The run is due to take place tomorrow, exact time to be arranged with the BBC.
On his fundraising website, Stephen said he will be ‘substantially naked’, but told supporters they should not expect the Full Monty.
Stephen, who stood as a candidate for Denne ward in the last is a former editor, and now contributing editor, of the political blog Liberal Democrat Voice. He has his own blog at http://stephentall.org/
