Plants stolen in Henfield

THIEVES stole several plants from beds near Henfield’s Wantley Roundabout.

Parish councillor Mike Morgan told the County Times that around 100 plants had been installed on a grass verge in two flower beds with the help of a grant from West Sussex County Council.

The plants were put in on Thursday last week and Mr Morgan said around 25 to 30 had been taken by Friday morning.

The thieves had been quite selective in what they had taken, he said.

The council had been trying to improve the area and had spent more than £1,000 having the beds dug with the help of the grant, he added.

Anyone with information is urged to contact parish council clerk Philip Hill and on 01273 492507 or Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999.
