Plan to make Albion Way a classy shop-lined boulevard

THE dual carriageway which splits Horsham town in two could be transformed into a boulevard lined with shops, if councillors take forward the contents of an independent report to be released next week.

No decisions have yet been made but the pioneering and wide-ranging report is likely to provoke healthy debate about how Horsham and Broadbridge Heath move forward in future years.

Horsham has a distinguished reputation for developing ambitious regeneration projects - and this could signal a new phase in that process after several years of consolidation.

Leader of the council Robert Nye (Con, Itchingfield, Slinfold and Warnham) revealed to the County Times that consultants have come up with some “fairly imaginative” suggestions for how Horsham’s town centre could be improved for shoppers and businesses.
