The ‘dire’ state of Horsham’s North Street roundabout was raised by a Lib Dem county councillor last week, but is your road in a worse condition?
West Sussex County Council is receiving transitional grants of £6.2m in 2016/17 and £6.3m in 2017/18, despite a steep reduction in overall funding from central Government.
Last Wednesday’s members of the Performance and Finance Select Committee approved plans to spend £5m of the one-off funding on improving pavements and footways over two years.
But Morwen Millson (LDem, Horsham Riverside) said she was ‘amazed’ how quickly some of the resurfacing work was deteriorating.
She said: “The North Street roundabout is dire and was only done about three years ago.”
Officers explained that they did have quality assurance measures to make sure the work done by contractors was of an acceptable standard.
