Peter Andre helped raise many a smile on Friday April 25 as he dropped in to meet families supported by Shooting Star Chase children’s hospices.
Peter, along with fiancé Emily and baby Amelia, visited Christopher’s, the Shooting Star Chase hospice in Guildford where he met with families and joined in a group music session with the children.
Peter Andre said: “I’ve come here and been absolutely blown away by the warmth I felt when I walked in. When I met some of the parents the first thing that they said is this is a home away from home and it feels like that.
“A lot of them said why it is so special is they feel that they belong and they feel that their children belong. They feel their children are being loved not only by them as parents but by another family and that’s a big thing. When children are sick they need to be surrounded by love and the hospice gives that.”
Shooting Star Chase, which continues to support the Horsham area, is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.
Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, Shooting Star Chase exist to make every moment count. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
Jack, who is supported by Shooting Star Chase and regularly visits Christopher’s, said he’d had a really nice day and was especially pleased that Peter had remembered him from a past meeting at a Shooting Star Chase event.
Jack’s mum Stephanie said: “It’s been a lovely day for us. It’s really nice of Peter to take time out to bring a smile to the faces of everyone at the hospice.”
Karen Sugarman, Director of Fundraising at Shooting Star Chase said: “As ever, it is great to see Peter and welcome his lovely family to Shooting Star Chase.
“Everyone was so excited to see him and we had a brilliant music session with all the children and teenagers. Peter always brings happiness to us and we loved welcoming him to see our work at first hand.”
