Since opening our Woodland Walk in June, the children and families have had a wonderful time in the woodland area next to the hospice, using the wheelchair-accessible pathway to explore the bug zone, the tepee, the tunnel and stick walk before stopping for a rest in the picnic area.
It is very uplifting to see how much the children are enjoying the sensory aspects of this area – touching the textured bark on the trees, watching the butterflies and creepy crawlies, hearing the wind through the leaves and smelling the wildflowers growing alongside the path.
We are now preparing for the final addition to the Woodland Walk – our amazing treehouse which has been donated to us thanks to numerous generous benefactors.
Following its unveiling at the Ideal Home Show in March, it is has just appeared at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show and will soon be making its way to Chestnut Tree House and taking its place in the Woodland Walk.
I look forward to telling you more when it arrives.
Chestnut Tree House, in Dover Lane, Arundel, cares for over 280 children and young adults from 0-25 years of age with progressive life-limiting conditions.
