Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne shines a spotlight on Camber this month, highlighting the summer operation carried out by Sussex Police and Rother District Council to help cope with the extra influx of summer visitors to the resort and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.
Operation Radcott is an annual operation, which has previously enjoyed success in ensuring local crime and disruption are kept to a minimum. Members of the Beach Patrol, a group of young people, accompany officers over the summer advising people in the area on safety issues.
Mrs Bourne took the opportunity to present members of Rother Neighbourhood Watch with a cheque following their successful application to the Safer in Sussex Community Fund, which supports local projects that aim to tackle crime and improve community safety. The grant award will be used to support the groups’ engagement with residents around crime prevention.
Don’t forget there’s still time to take part in the Commissioner’s ‘Community Remedy Consultation’ and have your say on how people who commit anti-social behaviour are dealt with. An online survey can be completed at http://www.sussex-pcc.gov.uk/public-consultations/ or printed copies can be requested from the Commissioner’s office. Tel: 01274 481561.
