World War I daily bulletin from the Horsham district

One element of the First World War was the number of families who committed themselves to the cause.

“Partridge Green. Mr J.R. Frank of Jolesfield House, who has been doing duty as a civil guard since the outbreak of war, has now been enrolled as a Special Constable for West Sussex.

“His only daughter is also a member of the Civil Guard and two of his sons hold commissions in the 4th Batt. Royal Sussex Regt. and are now on active service.”
