Newcare Homes Ltd celebrated their 25th Anniversary on the grounds of Belle Vue Country House in Warninglid.

The day started with ‘Picnic on the lawn’ where previous members of staff and relatives had time to catch up with each other.

One of the relatives said, there is some nostalgia coming back but it was wonderful to meet the staff and their families and to catch up with what they are doing now.

Newly elected Mayor of Haywards Heath, Sujan Wickremaratchi, accompanied by his wife officially opened the afternoon event with the cutting of the ribbon. He said : “This event is like having a big family gathering just like back home.”

Shyam Beeharee, Managing Director recapped the times when he and the other Directors were hands on in the renovation of the home, having worked a full day in their respective jobs. He said seeing so many familiar faces gave him a warm feeling and enforces the ethos of the home.

Sylvian Lew Kum Hoi- Director stated how the business was started in the midst of recession and glad they withstood the tests of time and the various challenges of the care home sector that came along the way.

Nicole Cheung Lew – one of the Directors children, gave a good account of what the renovation was like for her as a child. After gaining her degree in Business Studies with Law, she changed direction and pursued a nursing post graduate diploma.

She joined the nursing team in Belle Vue and hailed the benefits of working with a diverse range of people and client group. She also recalled the Home’s numerous achievements over the past decade.

The residents of the home were fascinated by the Mayors presence when he joined in the afternoon dancing in the home. One of the ladies even insisted the mayors chain of office was her necklace. The Mayor was quite accommodating and even allowed her to wear it much to everyone delight. Despite the chill factor in the afternoon the spirit of the attendees were not dampened.
