New bishop to visit Horsham next week

Martin Warner, the new Bishop of Chichester, will be enthroned as the 103rd bishop to the Diocese at Chichester Cathedral on Sunday.

The ceremony will take place during the Evensong service on November 25, the Feast of Christ the King.

Plans are already taking place for Bishop Martin to visit all the deaneries in the diocese and St Mary’s Church in Horsham is one of four churches holding a welcome service next week.

Dr Warner will be at the church in the Causeway on Wednesday November 28 at 7pm.

He said: “A fact we cannot alter is the limitation on space in the cathedral. So in order to complement the formalities of the cathedral event, I am also delighted and grateful it has been possible to plan four welcome services covering different parts of the diocese.

“I hope that these will be joyous occasions when we can meet to worship, to renew our discipleship of Jesus Christ and to pray together for the life of our diocese and four or Christian service to the people of Sussex.”
