With a growing demand for quality, fresh food, Horsham Markets have announced that even more local producers are joining the weekly Saturday market with many also appearing on the new Thursday market in the Carfax.

PJ Aldred, from Horsham Markets, said: “The recent expansion, planned for many months, has been timed to follow on from some major town events with many of the new traders having patiently sat on a waiting list.

“The largest weekly Local Produce Market outside of London already boasts fabulous local foods such as artisan bread, rare-breed meats, local sausages, farm produced fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs, Sussex cheeses, international food (locally produced) and plenty of jams and chutneys.

“The new wave of weekly traders brings in even more fresh local produce including a gluten-free specialist baker, local game, locally-roasted coffee, cakes, charcuterie and more specialist bread.

“Many of the market’s producers are award winners such as Sussex Faire who have been won Great Taste Awards.

“Horsham sausage maker, Bangers Galore, holds national sausage awards with Just Brownies and several other traders making it into the Sussex Food Awards. The Hungry Guest bakery have also won Gold Great Taste Awards, are members of the Real Bread Campaign and even featured in Vogue as one of the top 100 shops outside of London.

“The markets also host a number of hot ‘street food’ specialists such as Thai, Gulas, rare-breed burgers and spit-roast sandwiches.

This will also expand to include stone-baked pizza and paella making it an ideal lunch destination on both Thursdays and Saturdays. The additional Christmas Markets, held every Sunday from 25th November, are also set to be much larger this year with a fabulous choice of foods, unique arts and crafts, mulled wine and real ale.”

“The icing on the cake for Horsham is the recent addition of Carry On Baking, two of the contestants from The Great British Bake Off, Sarah-Jane Willis and Cathryn Dresser.

“The buzz about the market is summed up in a recent Tweet by London writer and confectioner, Joanne Walby, who said ‘Two of the biggest GBBO stars treating market shoppers to delicious goodies. Horsham becoming a food capital.’
