West Chiltington Horticultural Society held a magnificent show at the village hall with over 150 exhibits, despite the appalling wet and windy weather of the previous week.
Judges Doris Smallwood and Barry Newman agreed it was a spectacular show and were impressed by the quality of the flowers and amazed that there were sufficient vegetables to show.
They particularly commented on the standard of the exhibits in the mixed garden flowers in a vase class which were a spectrum of colour and the crowning glory of the show
Although a selection of members were awarded first, second and third prizes for their exhibits in the classes, the best exhibit flower, best vegetable in show and best exhibit in summer show, along with other trophies and medals were won by Jean and Douglas Hoadley.
Alison and Micheal Beal tied with Janet Methley to win most points in the fruit section. Maureen Gates gained most points in the houseplant section.
The show was accompanied by tea and delicious cakes plus a plant and book stall.
In the foyer visitors were welcomed by a colourful exhibition of paintings by the West Chiltington Hayling Art Group.
