AN EIGHT-year-old from Billingshurst has beaten hundreds of junior designers in a competition judged by a Blue Peter gardener.

George Pike, from Loxwood Primary School, won 3rd prize in a competition called ‘1-2-3 Transform Your School’ in which school children were invited to design an outside school space with flowers.

The year three pupil was chosen as runner up from hundreds of other junior designers by Blue Peter Gardener Chris Collins in the competition which was launched on Monday April 16.

George has won his school five plant pots filled with flowering bulbs to brighten up a corner of his school.

The winner, a six-year-old boy from London, has won his school a day working with Chris to bring his winning design to life.
