Young girl approached by stranger near Capel

Surrey Police are investigating following a suspicious incident in Beare Green, near Capel, last week.

The incident took place around 6.10pm on Tuesday, October 2, when a man approached an 11-year-old girl and asked her personal questions.

The man did not make physical contact with the girl and left the scene when the girl ran off.

Officers quickly attended the area to carry out an area search but no-one matching the description of the man was located.

Mole Valley Neighbourhood Sergeant Simon Cox, said: “I would appeal to anyone who has information or who can identify the man from the e-fit to contact Surrey Police as we need to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

“I would like to reassure members of the public that the safety of Mole Valley’s young people is our priority and we will do all we can to ensure the area is a safe place for youngsters to enjoy.”

Officers from the Mole Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team carried out enquiries and reassurance visits in the area following the incident.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 30 and 40-years-old, around 6ft 1ins in height and of average build. He had short black hair and a beard. He was wearing a black hooded top, denim trousers and brown shoes.
