A yellow alert for freezing temperatures and snow has been issued by the Met Office for Sunday night and all of Monday (March 11).

The forecast for Monday is light snow for most of the day and gusting winds of up to 44mph, making it feel like up to minus ten deg C.

The yellow alert states that this weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.

Today’s (Friday) heavy rain is set to continue until late this evening with fog coming in for the early hours of tomorrow.

Saturday will be mostly overcast as will Sunday with temperatures around 4degC.

However, the Met Office says the wind will pick up making it feel much colder.

Following Monday’s chilly winds and snow, Tuesday is expected to see the wind drop and temperatures rise a degree or two.

The forecast for the next couple of weeks, though, is for the cold weather to continue with sleet and possibly more snow.
