An 81-year-old woman is recovering from a head injury after a collision involving three cars in Storrington.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash on Thursday February 13.

Emergency services were called to the A283 Washington Road at around 3pm.

A Volkswagen Golf being driven by an 81-year-old woman was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf from behind and pushed it into the back of a Mercedes E-class estate, said Sussex Police.

The 81-year-old’s car then went off the road and hit a tree.

She was airlifted to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said the woman was unconscious at the scene.

The road was closed until 6pm.
