HOR 181007 Fire & Rescue Service attend Kings Arms in Horsham, falling Tiles. MB

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack at a block of flats in Tilletts Lane, Warnham, Horsham this morning (September 20).

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service notified officers at around 7.15am that a small fire had been started at the door of a flat and on arrival they spotted a trail of petrol on the road near to the flat. The fire was quickly extinguished with minimal damage to the front door of the flat.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Willcocks from West Sussex CID said: “Fortunately no one was injured and we are not linking this fire to any others.

“Officers will be continuing with house to house enquiries and I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the early hours of this morning to please get in touch.

“The area was cordoned off for five hours whilst forensic examinations were carried out and I would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation.

“House to house enquiries will continue and I would appeal to anyone who has any information that could help us with our enquiries to please call 101 quoting serial 146 of 20/09 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
