Make sure you use your vote for the West Sussex Youth Parliament elections

Young people are being reminded to make sure they use their vote in the UK Youth Parliament elections next month.

Voting for the elections takes place for the whole of March. Students need a Unique Voter Code to vote, and voter cards will be sent to schools. Some schools will vote online via the Your Space West Sussex website, while others prefer traditional ballot papers, with voting en-mass in tutor time or running a whole school Election Day.

West Sussex is covered by four UK Youth Parliament areas. In each area the two candidates with the most votes are elected as Members of Youth Parliament (MYP) and Deputy MYPs.

The four geographical areas are:

• Chichester, West Arun

• Crawley, East Grinstead

• East Arun, Adur and Worthing

• Horsham and Mid Sussex

West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Children and Families Peter Evans said: “I would urge every eligible young person in West Sussex to make the most of this opportunity and ensure they have their vote in the UK Youth Parliament elections.

“The MYPs, together with our West Sussex Youth Cabinet, play a vital role in helping ensure that the views of young people are heard and used to inform decisions both locally and nationally.”
