Video and photos - Emotional farewell for Horsham teenager

FAMILY and friends packed into St Mark's Church, Horsham, on Wednesday, for an emotional service to celebrate and give thanks for the life of Charlii Morgan, 15, who was tragically killed in Dubai in April.

Charlii, a former Millais School pupil, had moved to Dubai in December last year to start a new life with her family, parents Nikki and Perry and sisters Tori and Lauren.

On April 8, as she tried to cross a busy road, she was in collision with a car.

She had spent her early years growing up in Rusper having attended Donnybrook Nursery before moving onto Farlington School, near Broadbridge Heath and then Millais.

Charlii's funeral took place at Christ Church, Jebel Ali, on Easter Sunday, but her family and friends in Horsham wanted to celebrate her life with a service which was organised by her aunt and uncle, Stephanie and Michael Andreou.

In an emotional service lasting for more than an hour, Charlii's friends and family read poems, listened to songs, watched video, prayed, lit candles and finally released balloons in memory of their loved one.

The service was conducted by Reverend Michael Broadley, who said: "This service is our opportunity to remember Charlii, remember her life with thanks and to celebrate her life and continue to mourn and grieve her loss.

"Charlii loved drama, dance and singing and socialising with her friends. She travelled with her family to many countries around the world, she lived her short life to the full."

Stephanie read tributes from Charlii's parents who could not attend because they had just been granted residency in Dubai which meant the family could not leave the country for 26 days.

Charlii's close friend, Philippa Drewitt, choked back tears as she read out a tribute from Charlii's sisters who said: "Words are just can't describe how we are feeling right now, words are not big enough. We miss every single thing about you. You really did have stars in your eyes."
