Gritting the roads can be a thankless task for the county council, but a Slinfold nursery owner has praised this year’s efforts.
Carol Rawnsley, owner and manager of Little Russets in Hayes Lane, said that in previous years parents might have struggled to reach the business, but this year West Sussex County Council had done a fine job.
She said: “I think it would be nice to thank the council for gritting our roads.”
Ms Rawnsley runs an outdoor nursery and had 11 children attend on Monday despite the severe weather.
She added: “We’ve been here five years, and the last four years people could not go up and down the road.”
However residents of Highlands Road, Horsham suggested that their road should have been gritted because of the entrance to Millais School, with parents often parking cars on both sides of the road.
According to the county council’s website the two priorities for gritting are strategic main A roads and approaches to emergency services, and the A and B road network.
