The exhibition on local transport of many kinds went on show at the Storrington and District Museum on Saturday January 11 and continue until Sunday March 30.
Entitled ‘Transport - a Moving Story’, Storrington Museum will display an archive of old postcards and photographs featuring horses, horse-drawn vehicles, bikes, buses, charabancs and cars.
Museum secretary Patricia Wilks said: “To go with them we have model vehicles and documents relating to disputes over maintenance and rights of way, all of which should throw another and different light on the past in Storrington.
“There is also a very evocative display of artefacts lent to us by Southdown Buses as well as illustrations of two dreams that never materialised: the Storrington By-Pass and the planned railway line and station.”
The next exhibition held will be ‘From the Archives’ featuring ‘ new arrivals at the museum and some old favourites from April 12 to June 8, followed by a display celebrating the 150th Anniversary of Storrinton Flower Show starting June 14
