VIDEO: Horsham's solar-powered busker
A LOCAL musician has found a way to entertain shoppers by using green energy. Singer/song- writer and guitarist Phil Cory has assembled mini solar panels to power his music.
Regular traders and the Horsham public will have noticed Phil playing in West Street. He performs his own songs and uses the power of the sun instead of a generator.
He sends the energy created by the panels to a regulator which converts the voltage into a manageable current for the guitar amplifier. The energy then charges an internal battery in the amp so it can produce sound.
Phil's home is also designed to be able to live off grid: "I've got pedal power and solar power which creates electricity for my home."
Unfortunately Phil doesn't quite produce enough energy to qualify for the Government's Feed-In-Tariff reward for his solar energy.
He does however make most of his money as a musician which includes therapeutic recordings for people with emotional difficulties: "They're available on iTunes and at Amazon. It's an income every month but not as much as it could be although it's enough to scrape by."
