UPDATE: Ticket shock for Worthing's Nokia white Christmas?

HUNDREDS of people have feared being let down by the Nokia's White Christmas event in Worthing.

Just one day after email invitations were sent out to people who voted for Worthing in Nokia's internet competition, the company has back-tracked on its plans for 750 to attend the event.

According to the event publicists, just 500 people can go to either the afternoon or evening session on Saturday, November 26.

Emails sent out on Tuesday, November 24, said: "You've received this because you entered the Nokia Win Snow competition, and you've been selected for special VIP tickets to your town's event!"

Today, the lucky VIPs were told in a new email: "We'd love you all to come, but unfortunately the response has been so overwhelming that we will be unable to fit you all in and still comply with the council regulations."

When the Herald contacted Worthing Borough Council and Nokia's publicists to find out more, both organisations had only just become aware of the ticket issue after receiving angry telephone calls.

Nokia comment

After the Herald's called today, Nokia's spokesman said: "This has been a miscommunication.

"We do not want to upset anyone and this is not Worthing Borough Council's fault.

UPDATE: All will enjoy event

Nokia's spokesman added: "What we are hoping to do is somehow accommodate everyone and we're just working out what we can do as we have made a commitment to more people than we planned for.

"Nokia will do all we can to make sure everyone has some sort of experience."
