Local dog walkers have today (Thursday June 14) expressed ‘shock’ following the discovery of a body in Horsham woods.
At 6.20pm yesterday (Wednesday June 13) a man walking his dog found the body of a woman in dense undergrowth in Leechpool Woods.
Police have investigated and the death is not being treated as suspicious.
A post mortem is due to be carried out.
The body has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be that of 59-year-old Jennifer Marsh, who was reported missing from her home in Horsham on May 30.
This morning, Marie James, 51, a local dog walker in the woods, told the County Times: “I’m absolutely shocked.
“My son came home yesterday and he said he saw police around the woods. It’s really sad.”
A search helicopter was seen ‘circling the area’ yesterday by another walker.
Resident John Clark, 59, added: “The police asked me about the missing woman recently, I’m a bit surprised no-one saw anything before.”
