A broken down bus in Horsham is causing chaos on roads in and around the town centre this afternoon (Thursday September 27).

One PC, a PSCO and three members of the public pushed the huge vehicle from Worthing Road into Blackbridge Lane just after 5pm.

Traffic is at a standstill around the town, including the Sainsbury’s car park. Frustrated drivers criticised the supermarket as more and more vehicles poured into the premises - causing gridlock.

One motorist, who had been queuing in the car park for nearly 30 minutes, said: “This is idiotic, Sainsbury’s are still letting people into the car park, and it’s only adding to the congestion.”

Police have been redirecting traffic for around an hour.

PSCO Andy Reed said: “I would to thank the members of the public who helped us to push the bus.”
