Temporary location for village Post Office

editorial image

Pulborough Post Office is temporarily re-opening at a new location next week.

Evie’s Baby Boutique in Lower Road will host the sub Post Office on Monday, March 11.

It will be run as a hosted outreach service. This involves a subpostmaster from a nearby core post office visiting the community at fixed times to offer service from Evie’s.

The subpostmaster from Billingshurst Post Office is providing this invaluable service.

The opening hours will be Monday and Tuesday, 1.30pm to 4.30pm; Wednesday and Thursday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Pulborough Post Office, which was based at 83 Lower Street, Pulborough, closed in mid-December for operational reasons. This closure, which happened at short notice left the residents of Pulborough without a Post Office in their village.

A temporary bus service from outside Pulborough library to Storrington Centre and back again was organised for all Post Office customers since January.

Post Office Ltd is also working to identify a permanent location for a Post Office in the area .

The same range of services will continue to be available, with the addition of passport check and send facilities.

Post Office regional network manager for south and east England, Mark Lawrence, said: “We apologise for the upheaval and changes customers have faced since December due to the temporary closure of Pulborough Post Office and I am sure that residents and businesses will be delighted to have a Post Office open in again.”

There are currently two applicants interested in permanently taking over Pulborough Post Office. Both are being considered.
