Teacher pays tribute to popular Worthing schoolgirl

A "POPULAR" and "creative" Worthing teenager died after she suffered a heart attack at a house party.

Gabrielle Price, 14, known as Gabi, who attended Davison CofE High School for Girls, Selborne Road, died at the Royal Sussex County Hospital shortly before 10pm on Saturday, November 21.

Paramedics had earlier attended a house in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, at around 5.15pm to reports she had suffered a heart attack.

They attempted to revive her at the scene before rushing her to hospital.

A post mortem examination was carried out on Monday, November 23, but results have proved inconclusive.

Further tests will be carried out to establish the cause of Gabi's death.

Individual style

Della West, head teacher at Davison, paid warm tribute to Gabi.

She said: "The school is very shocked to hear of the death of Gabrielle Price, know to us as Gabi, this weekend.

"The thoughts and prayers of all the staff and students at Davison are with her family and friends.

"Gabi was a popular girl. She was quirky, with her own individual sense of style.

"She was politically aware and held strong opinions that she was able to defend articulately.

"She loved music and was hoping to use her knowledge and creativity in a future career. She will be sadly missed. "

Friends' tributes

A tribute page on the social networking website Facebook has been set up in Gabi's memory and has attracted almost 1,000 members and numerous messages.

Police attended the Moulsecoomb address on Saturday and two people, a 39-year-old woman from Brighton and a 17-year-old boy from Hove, were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

The woman has been released on bail until January 14.

The boy has been bailed until January 26.
