Support group for Worthing ME sufferers
A GROUP of friends who suffer from ME, which causes extreme physical and mental exhaustion, are giving other sufferers and their families the opportunity to join them to regularly discuss the illness.
For Charlotte Barnett, Sharon Ayling and Sarah Stezaker, even the smallest of tasks can become a challenge.
ME, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome, has no known cure.
Sufferers have to learn to cope with the illness day to day.
Charlotte, 31, who also suffers with the auto-immune disease Lupus, said: "We have decided to set up regular coffee mornings in Worthing, for fellow sufferers, their careers, or their family members, if they wish to come along as well.
"It will give sufferers an opportunity to get together, make new friends and gain vital support from one another as these illnesses can often be difficult to deal with and understand.
"We are also considering establishing up a mini support group in Worthing, where guest speakers can come and give talks."
The three friends, who met through an internet forum, held their first coffee morning today (Tuesday, September 22).
