Southern Water invests £2.7million in Horsham’s waterworks

The environment in Horsham will receive a boost, thanks to a £2.7million investment by Southern Water.

The company has begun work on an upgrade of Horsham Wastewater Treatment Works, off the A24.

This will mean the treated flows leaving the site are of the best ever quality and remain in line with new Environment Agency standards.

The work will include construction of a new filter measuring 29 metres in diameter – that’s about the length of two buses.

Southern Water Senior Project Manager Heather Barber said: “By replacing parts of the site with more advanced equipment we can ensure the treatment process is as effective and robust as possible.”

Construction, being carried out by contractor 4Delivery, is due to finish in June.
