The Met Office snow warning for tomorrow (Friday January 17) has been upgraded from yellow to amber.
This is one level below the top red warning.
Amber advises the public to be prepared for disruption to services.
The latest forecast is for light snow from 9am and then heavier falls from 12 noon.
Saturday has a yellow snow warning with light falls expected early in the morning and the rest of the day overcast and very cold with a wind chill factor of up to minus 6degC.
Sunday is due to be overcast again with temperatures below freezing.
On Monday the temperature is expected to rise to a couple of degrees above freezing until the evening when a further light snow shower is forecast.
