People with elderly neighbours are being urged to keep an eye on them as heavy snow affects West Sussex.
Through West Sussex County Council’s Age with Confidence initiative, people are being encouraged to pull together and do their bit by checking on vulnerable and elderly neighbours to help them through the snow and cold.

West Sussex County Council leader Louise Goldsmith said: “We all know someone who might need a bit of extra help particularly in this extreme weather so please check they are okay. If you are worried about them you can contact us on 01243 642555.”
Council services have been battling through the elements to reach customers and contingency plans are in place to keep care services running.
In preparation of the weather conditions, additional frozen meals were delivered to Meals on Wheels customers who live in areas likely to be badly affected by snow.
Where possible, WRVS volunteers are continuing to deliver meals and carry out ‘safe and well’ checks. However, if they are unable to reach locations they are contacting customers by telephone.
Contingency plans are also in place to ensure meals continue to reach customers should conditions persist.
